Favourite Films and Moments of the Year

FAVOURITE FILMS OF 2019

These are the films that I found myself recommending to others the most, that I found myself raving about right from their closing credits.
One Cut of the Dead
Burning
Border
The Favourite
The Kindergarten Teacher
Monos
Eighth Grade
Peterloo

and

‘Bait’, ‘Capernaum’, ‘Marriage Story’, ‘Joker’, ‘Bliss’.

FAVOURITE SCENES OF THE YEAR
‘Border’ sex scene – and you go, well that isn’t something you see every day.
‘John Wick chapter 3 – parabellum’ – weapon museum knife fight.
‘Midsommar’ – cliffside ritual… or the sex scene.
‘Burning’ – the final long take.
‘Dragged Across Concrete’ – the prolonged showdown.
‘Bait’ – forced basket weaving edited with making pasta.
‘Joker’ – Joker dancing.
'Monos' - fireside party or/and the chase down the rapids (or just all of it).
'The Last Black Man in San Francisco' - skating through the city.
And…
‘The Farewell’ – hilarious graveside visit.
‘Pain & Glory’ – Asier Etxeandia dancing to “La Vie en Rose”.
‘I Lost My Body’ – conversing through the intercom.

And…
Some shocks of the year
‘The House That Jack Built’ – manipulated young corpse.
‘Midsommar’ – the cliffside ritual.
‘Brightburn’ jaw damage.

Oh, there's plenty more - I mean, several of the conversations in 'Marriage Story' could count have been included (I'm going for the discussion about serving divorce papers, but the central confrontation was something else too); or the assault on the desert mansion in 'Birds of Passage'; or I could have placed 'Avengers: Endgame' as epic of the year, or something... but these are the ones that stuck with me, that struck me at the moment they were happening and stayed with me afterwards.

The Films I Discussed Most:
'Joker'
'Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood'

Films I Liked Even More on the Second Watch:
'In Fabric'
'Avengers: Endgame'
'The Favourite'
